First Baptist Church of Barnesville, Georgia ...a fellowship of love.
....................................................................................................................................."a fellowship of love!"
Jered assumed his full time position as Minister to Students and Singles at First Baptist on September 29, 2008, after serving in that capacity on a part-time basis since the previous June. His contagious passion for Christ and his love for people have resulted in a rapidly growing ministry among our college students and singles.
He is 29 years old and is married to the former Jennifer Baker, who grew up in Barnesville. Jered met Jenny while he was president of the Baptist Student Union at Gordon College. They have two children, Ethan (3) and Isaac (2), and are building a home here in Lamar County.
Jered has worked as a General Manager for Starbucks Coffee first in Tupelo, Mississippi and now in Macon. Before that, from 2001 to 2005, he was a Unit Marketing Director for Chick-fil-A in North Carolina and Georgia. He has a B.S. degree from West Georgia College in Carrollton and is presently working toward his Masters in Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
He has served as full-time Associate Pastor and Youth Minister at East Newnan Baptist Church where he was licensed and ordained to the ministry. He has also served as part-time youth minister at Olive Branch Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina and at Liberty Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia, while he was employed by Chick-fil-A.
In some excerpts from his "Statement of Faith and Call to Service," Jered says, "I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior my junior year in high school...I then went to Gordon College where I found my passion...I started that day in college ministry witnessing to anyone who would listen to me...I was chosen to present God's truth, unashamed and with diligence. I will accomplish the purpose God has chosen for me. Will you accomplish yours?"
